This is Dave:

Dave (David G.) Henderson is a life-long promoter of technology that empowers users with efficiency and productivity that would otherwise not be attainable.

His first encounter with computers was in high school when his local, hometown newspaper, where he worked part-time, converted from hot-lead-strip Linotype typesetting to offset printing.  The newspaper adopted the best technology existing at the time.  It used a photographic process to print images as columns of type on photo paper.

After college and his enlistment in the Vietnam-era U.S. Army, his interest in technology grew with his exposure to innovations in the newspaper printing industry driven by computers.  Then, in the mid 70’s word processing computer innovations were quickly followed by the first computerized phototypesetting machines that composed advertisements on a screen.

Most intriguing then was the usefulness and efficiencies created by specially-designed, special-purpose computers used in the printing industry; and general-purpose computers used in accounting and business, such as the Apple II, TRS-80.  These early, but rudimentary, machines and software started him on a path that caused him to be increasingly interested in the ability of technology to increase efficiency and productivity without a corresponding increase in human capacity.

As time went on and technology evolved, he brought technology to those with whom he interacted, whether that was the newspaper industry, printing, television, insurance or real estate worlds.  All were progressive, innovative uses of technology in each field.  He made multiple expeditions to Africa for the UN and other international organizations to design, create and manage computer networks that used shortwave radio to transfer data over long distances.

In the latter half of his career, once he was in the government realm, there was a realization that the use of technology in that sector was years behind the “state of the art” found and adopted by business and industry.

So, recently, his endeavors have been directed towards leading local governments, individuals, and businesses into the 21st-Century-world of advanced technologies.

He believes that the improvements in individuals lives, to be brought forth by personal interaction with technology, are unfathomable and will continue to be transformational.
